How to Install a New Font on a Windows PC

Downloading cool fonts can be a great way to spice up your design projects or documents. To learn how to use any font you like on your website or blog, see our other posts.

Getting Started

  1. Download a font file from a website like DaFont; FontEx; UrbanFonts, and many others
  2. Go to the start menu and click on Control Panel
  3. Click on the “Fonts” icon
  4. Open the “File” menu in the top left of the window
  5. Click “Install New Font…”
  6. You now need to browse to the file >
  7. If you placed the file on your desktop browse to c:\Documents and Settings\%your_username\Desktop
  8. The font file should then show up in the “List of Fonts”
  9. Select it and click “OK”
